“ Be a part of something bigger than yourself.”

If you’re a blogger in the beauty scene, chances are you’ve heard of the Butterfly Project Malaysia. It’s a community for beauty and lifestyle bloggers which was founded by Tammy Lim, whom we fondly known as Mama-san. It is an avenue where like-minded individual who are passion in sharing about their experiences can gather and create content together! That was the core founding principle, and boy, did this community grow! I joined the Butterfly Project Malaysia since December 2013, during its early days making me one of the ancient butterflies of the community.
That means I’ve seen just how much the community have grown and the countless opportunities that came along with joining the Butterfly Project Malaysia. And this year, it’s Butterfly Project Malaysia 4th Birthday where two amazing parties was held to celebrate that! I missed the earlier one but was able to join in the second party, where the butterflies were each given a birthday box worth more than RM1,000 to unbox together at the party! So, what was in the party box? Read on to find out more.
I mentioned earlier that we would be unboxing the birthday box, but it turns out that there was too many things to be fitted all into a box and what we got instead was a specially designed canvas bag bearing the new Butterfly Project Malaysia’s logo. There was so many goodies stuffed in it, I swear the bag probably weighed a few kgs there. Let’s start off with some of my absolute favourite products.
Wanderlust Things Unicorn Face Makeup Brush | RM89
Wanderlust Things Unicorn Face Makeup Brush | RM89
When I saw this, I almost squealed out aloud because I’ve been eyeing on the unicorn brushes ever since I laid eyes on them! The bristles of the brushes are a combination of pastel colours with the unicorn horn design, as the brush holder. There are two choice of brushes set which are the face brushes or just the eyes brushes. I’d actually receive the eyes set, which have many different sizes of brushes. You can get these unicorn brushes here >> Wanderlust Things at 10% off with my discount code BUTTERFLY12.

This was the most gorgeous palette I have ever laid my eyes on, I mean would you just look at those shades. There’s a balance between shimmery shades of coral pink, rose peach to darker shades of brown. I foresee it to be one of my most used eyeshadow palette soon, since the colours are those I favour. The palette can be purchased from Althea Korea >> click here to purchase W’Lab Pocket Shadow Palette. Over the past weekend, I managed to try some of the eyeshadow shades for two different looks. Read my short review below. 🙂
| First look with Begonia, Acasia and Cherry Blossom from W’Lab Pocket Shadow Palette Blooming. |
| On my lips is Mars from Orkid Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick. |
In this first look, I used Begonia as my base shade and then Acasia and Cherry Blossom over my lids. For my second look, I used the Calen Dula as the base and then Acasia and Kaffir Lily as my shimmery shade to complete the look. My verdict after using it, I found that the shimmery shades are very light and requires couple more application for the shade to show. Otherwise those shadows, namely Cherry Blossom and Kaffir Lilly are quite pale. The base shades are quite fine, easy to apply. Overall, based on my experience the shade is quite lasting and one that is suitable for an everyday look. I had them on since 11PM and at 9PM the eyeshadow is still obvious. As the shadows are quite light when applied, it’s perfect for beginners too who maybe afraid to experiment with eyeshadows for fear of applying too much.

Orkid Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks | RM39 each
I have always been mad for liquid lipsticks ever since I discovered Colour Pop, and since there have been many brands emulating them. But Orkid Cosmetics is a tad bit more special because it is home-grown Malaysian brand founded by blogger Raeesya, which is halal (permissible in Islam) and vegan too! So you can look fabulous without worrying about the chemicals in your lipsticks. Shop them here >> Orkid Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks.
There were four shades we received from Orkid Cosmetics, which are Mars, Turnt, Vibes and Blush. Of these four shades my favourite one based on the colour in the tube was Mars, so I gave it a try first. I love how the colour turned out to be on my lips which I found to be a darker red hue. Application wise, it was thinner than Colourpop which made it even easier to apply and …. re-applying too! Usually matte lipsticks are not made to be re-applied, at least Colourpop’s one aren’t.

In terms of staying power, my inner part of my lips were gone after a round of buffet food but like I said, reapplication was possible. Just be careful with how much you apply, try to match the thickness with the rest of lipstick. The next shade I tried was Blush, which turnt out to be a different shade from the tube. That was pretty surprising, but the shade looks good on my lips anyway.

Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner | RM69.90 || Mamonde Long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner | RM39 || 1028 Big Eyes Magnifier Mascara | RM59.90
Eyeliners are such an essential in my daily make up routine, that it’s one of the first product which always run out! Now, having two eyeliners from brands which I have always had interest to try is pretty much a dream come true, especially Dolly Wink. I had that product on my shopping list, for some time now! I’m pretty excited to try the mascara too, especially since I don’t really use it that much but this looks very promising.
| On my eyes, I’m wearing Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner. |
Many have recommended me to try the Dolly Wink eyeliner and so I decided to try that first and I found that the brush pen applicator made it very easy to apply. The thickness of the brush was just the right size for me to do a winged liner, without being over dramatic. Definitely recomended to try! For more information, refer here >> Dolly Wink Malaysia.
| On my eyes, I’m wearing Mamonde Long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner. |
Mamonde have been making waves around the Malaysian beauty scene ever since there were first introduced. Their Long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner would be my first encounter with the brand. The eyeliner is a liquid brush eyeliner type, where the brush is dipped in liquid liner and you apply it then. This was quite daunting for me, as you’ll need steady hands to apply it. Thankfully I managed to apply it but my winged liner ended up looking uneven. I will definitely need more practice! It’s worth noting that the eyeliner is super lasting without a single smudging through 8 hours! However, removing them proved to be a little of hassle because of how lasting they are. You can check out their Facebook page here >> Mamonde Malaysia.

Once again, I’d like to wish Happy Birthday to Butterfly Project Malaysia ! It’s amazing to look back and realized how far the community have grown to get to where we are today. I’m honored to be able to be a part of this growing community and I foresee that there will be bigger opportunities installed for us! Thank you once again for the invite to the party and the opportunity to participate in the Unboxing of the Birthday Party Box! I’d like to end this post with some of the pictures I took at the party and together with the bloggers.
And oh, did I mentioned that I managed to snag one of the prizes for Best Make-Up at the party, by wearing a simple eyeliner tattoo with butterfly details! Then, to completed the look I deliberately applied highlighter under my eyes and over my cheekbones for that shimmery feel. It was all just an experiment but I’m glad to have won. I love all the other bloggers’ make up too, especially the galatic themed ones – so pretty and talented!
